Johan Forsman

Johan Forsman is an artist, project manager, and writer. In 2012, he founded the stage and platform Skogen in Gothenburg, where he has served as artistic director ever since.

Forsman’s artistic practice spans performance and theater, often with a documentary approach and artistic explorations that unfold over many years. His work is characterized by an interest in the narratives that shape societies, places, and economies. He has collaborated with artists such as Anders Paulin, Lea Martini, and Leif Elggren.

Forsman has also initiated structures for collaboration and resource-sharing, such as the platform Samarbetet (2022). In the project Nya Allmänningar (2024), cultural spaces like Skogen, Ställbergs Gruva, and Kultivator explore the commons as a political and organizational potential.

In 2023, he was awarded the Konstnärsnämnden Dynamo Grant.
